A Future in Which All People Have the Opportunity to Thrive

At MVCAA, we are laser-focused on our vision of a community where all of us can reach our potential. We work toward this vision by coordinating resources and providing programs and services designed to equip our neighbors with what they need to become self-reliant and lift themselves out of poverty.

We often begin working with people by providing support in times of crisis such as utilities being shut off. After solving that issue, we extend further opportunities to help the entire family break the cycle of poverty by guiding them through finding a better employment situation and managing their finances. Through this, people learn how to build a better life for themselves and their family, ultimately becoming less reliant on programs and growing into contributing members of the community.

Our Approach

Community Action Promise

Community action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Building on Our History

As a 501(c)(3), private, not-for-profit, charitable organization, we are entrusted to steward the funds we receive in order to provide maximum impact for those we serve. This stewardship began in 1965 with a $50,000 grant to establish three Head Start centers that provided six weeks of summer preschool services to about 60 children.

Since then, our offerings and service area have increased, but our focus on providing support to help people build better lives remains. Today, MVCAA manages a budget of about $13.5 million that covers 17 sites.

Working Together

MVCAA is led by a local Board of Directors who guide our organization. An administrative staff and dedicated team fulfill the vision and Community Action Promise through the day-to-day workings of MVCAA.
